Attendance
Consistent attendance is critical to learning; therefore, we encourage students to be in class each and every session. Please help by having your children arrive on time in order to be seated when class promptly begins. Dismissal: Sunday, 11:45 a.m., Mid-week Hebrew, 5:45 p.m., Monday High School, 8:30 p.m. If your child needs to leave early, we will need a note from you and you must come to the school office to sign out your student. High school students will only be allowed to sign out with a note and the home phone number will be called for clarification. Please use restraint in determining what occasions necessitate early dismissal. If your child is absent, please call the school office 216/454-1300 and we will inform the appropriate teacher.
Dress Code
We believe that the way we dress expresses our community values and self-esteem. Our school values respect for the temple and its religious ideals. Accordingly, students should dress neatly and appropriately for Sunday Religious School. We advise students to dress appropriately. Message tee shirts, sweatshirts, exposing the midriff and torn clothing are not acceptable. Student's dress for midweek classes is to be in accordance with his/her secular school's dress code.
Tzedakah
Tzedakah contributions are collected weekly. In addition, your child has the opportunity to participate in Jewish National Fund, Jewish Welfare Fund, and food collection drive. Parents are encouraged to help their children understand the concept of Tzedakah.
Hebrew Tutorial
We offer supportive Hebrew tutorial, for our students with special needs. For more information, speak with Aline Davis.
Religious School & Hebrew School Emergency and Inclement Weather Closing
The decision to close midweek Hebrew classes is made by Temple Emanu El by 1:00 p.m. Hebrew teachers will call families to notify them of school closings. We will also notify secular schools and the information is given to the local radio and TV stations. However, the stations do not necessarily announce closings.
On the weekend your youngest child's room parent will call you. The information is also given to local radio and TV stations through UPI; however, the stations do not necessarily announce closings. The final option would be to call the main TEE phone number: 216/454-1300 ext. 214. There will be a message stating if Religious School is closed due to inclement weather.
