Since Yom Kippur is a day of fasting, there are no traditional Yom Kippur recipes. Below are a couple of recipes that are suitable for a break fast gathering.
Blintz Souffle
Batter
1-4 lb. butter or margarine
1/2 cup orange juice
1/3 cup sugar
1 cup flour
6 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
1-1/2 cups sour cream
Filling
1 (8 oz.) pkg. Cream cheese
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 pint small curd cottage cheese
1 tsp. vanilla
2 egg yolks
Directions:
Butter 13 x 9 inch pan. Mix butter/margarine, sugar, eggs, sour cream, orange juice, flour, and baking powder until blended. Pour ½ batter into baking dish. Drop filling by spoonfuls over batter; spread evenly. Pour the rest of batter over it. May refrigerate. Bring to room temperature. Bake at 350 degrees, uncovered, 50-60 minutes, until it puffs. Serve with sour cream, jams, or fruit.
